Nobilis Episcopus ex Britanniis, ad ostendendam quam tunc multi requirebant Concilii Constantiensis libertatem, in magno Praelatorum conventu hoc attulit testimonium. A noble bishop from Britain gave this testimony at a big meeting of the prelates as a demonstration of the liberty that many then sought at the Council of Constance.
Fuisse ait Constantiae civem, cuius soror innupta gravida facta erat. He said that there was a citizen in Constance whose unmarried sister had become pregnant. Cum fratri tumor ventris innotuisset, accepto gladio, quid id esset, aut unde id prodisset, quaesivit, percussori similis. When he discovered her swelling belly, he grabbed his sword like a murderer and demanded to know what this was and who had caused it. Tum iuvenis exterrita, id esse Concilii opus, seque ex Concilio praegnantem. The young terrified woman then said that this was the Council’s doing and that she had become pregnant from the Council. Hoc intellecto frater, Concilii metu ac reverentia, sororem impunitam reliquit. When the brother realised this, he let the sister off unpunished out of fear and respect for the Council.
Cum ceteri aliarum rerum libertatem quaererent, ille praetulit licentiam futuendi. When some would seek liberty with regard to other things, he preferred the liberty to fuck.
